| Education and training in metrology |

Employees of the Metrology institute of the Republic of Slovenia find exchange of knowledge and experiences as one of strategic activities.
Knowledge transfer activities include:
· lectures (at basic and advanced level)
· examples
· practical work in laboratories (hands-on training)
· visits to other institutions relevant for all dealing with metrology, either as providers or users.
Areas of expertise:
· Mass measurements
· Volume and flow measurements
· Analysis of precious metals alloys
· Software testing in metrology
· Speed and distance measurements
· Automation, IT and databases in metrology
· Metrology in chemistry
· Distributed national metrology system
· European and national legislation concerning measurements
· Quality systems, as relevant for providing reliable measurements
· Prepackages
· Inspection
Knowledge transfer activities are tailor-made, upon a request of each customer, and can include all or some of the above stated knowledge transfer activities. Active involvement of the participants e.g. hands-on training is highly recommended, as by doing the work one learns most.
Since 2004, more than 483 experts from 6 countries were trained in laboratories of the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia.
